Brazil 2010: Day 7 – Brasília

Posted Ryan Brazil, Christafari

Today was a long day, we started the day at 4am to catch our 7am flight from São Jose Dos Campos to Brasilia. I like this city very much, if you look at a map of the city you can see that it was designed in the shape of an airplane.

Once we got here at around 9:30 this morning we stopped off for breakfast at a buffet which was basically way too many different kinds of bread, and for some reason, chocolate cake, and they didn’t even have milk. Big let down, but we had to kill time because the hotel we were staying at was full and we couldn’t get an early check in. They told us we would be able to check in at 11, so we got there at 11 and we couldn’t check in. They then said we could check in at 2pm, so we told them we would take our 7-room group to another hotel and were told that all the hotels in the city were full (nice bluff). But somehow we were able to find another (nicer) hotel that had rooms immediately available for us, funny how that works out.

So we all checked in and went straight to sleep to make up for the 2 hours we got last night and slept through lunch. Then at 6 we were off to the venue, another Bola de Neve church. This show by far was the best one yet. All the gear supplied was perfect, and everything worked great. The sound system was also the best we’ve had and only had an issue when the guy manning the power generator nodded off and we lost power for a minute. In the green room they had a juice bar setup for us where they mixed all sorts of crazy fruit drinks together for us and the food they supplied was spot on (even though it was mostly crackers), which is probably because we skipped lunch.

Since it’s Brazil, our 8 o’clock show started at 9:30 and went until just after midnight. Even though they wanted more we had to pack up and get out of there quickly to make it to the restaurant for dinner before they closed at 1am. Tonight’s dinner was important because we were celebrating Jennifer’s birthday (it’s actually on Christmas) and went out to a pizzeria (I forget what it’s actually called). It’s similar to the Brazilian BBQ’s where they just keep bringing different things around and you take what you like, except it’s all pizza (and a couple different pastas). They highlights of the night were the chocolate pizza and the banana pizza. Both were spectacular. A great way to end a great day. Now, fortunately we don’t have to leave the hotel until noon tomorrow, so I’ll still get a decent night’s rest tonight. :)
